Instructions for pest control

a. Prevative instructions
Field improvement:
- Lime to treat soil to sugar-cane fields that were got a disease in previous crop;
- Serious insect/disease sugar-cane fields: plough to cancel root and alternate crops with legume or green manure plant from 1-2 crops;
- Check seed source and treat cuttings before planting;
- Plant in right crop, plant early (complete before 10/06);
- Use pesticides such as: Paran, Diaphos (20-30 kg/ha) in combination with undergraound plough, new planting or root treatment;
- Mount lamp trap (or pheromone trap) to assess insect status and prevention in mature sugar-cane period

b. Investigation of insect, disease development
Organize investigations:
- Organize periodical investigations/monitoring once 15 days from dugar-cane sprouting or regeneration to 30 days prior to a havest;

 c. Insect treatment
After investigations, assess and clarify damaged levels, treat as follows:

• Level 0: Disease rate < 5% => Continute to investigate and monitor;
• Level 1: Tỷ lệ bệnh 5- < 10% => Cut insect sugar-cane and dispose;
• Level 2, level 3: Disease rate 5 - > 10% => Organize to spray pesticides with Chloryniphos, Fipronil, Cypemethrin, Chlorantrani liprole (prevathon) activity,…Each group of pesticide does not spray over 02 times/crop per the same lot

• Time: early morning or cool afternoon (do not spray after 9:00 AM and before 15:00 PM);
• Dose: as instructed;
• Spraying pesticide must complete within 2 months prior to a harvest according to harvest schedule informed;
• Comply with pesticide guideline from the manufacture.

d. Investigation, assessment of pesticide effectiveness
Perform pesticide effectiveness again. If died insect rate is under 60%, it is necessary to change pesticide group with other activity and carry out the next spraying.
